Meridian Station — Privacy Policy

1 Overview

Meridian Station is a single-player interactive fiction game developed by Adam Tansley ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our mobile application.

2 Information We Collect

Information Stored Locally

Meridian Station stores the following information locally on your device:

• Game Progress: Your current position in the story, including the current node, location, and narrative history
• Inventory & Items: Items you have collected during gameplay
• Codes & Flags: Unlocked codes and story flags that track your decisions
• Companion Status: Which companion characters have joined you
• Character Information: Known characters and their status in your playthrough
• Message History: The conversation history displayed in the game

Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit:

• Personal identification information (name, email, address)
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Location data
• Contact information
• Financial information
• Usage analytics or behavioral data
• Any data to external servers

3 How We Use Your Information

The information stored locally on your device is used solely for:

• Save/Load Functionality: Allowing you to continue your game from where you left off
• Game State Management: Tracking your progress, decisions, and collected items to provide a coherent narrative experience
• Story Progression: Determining which story paths are available based on your previous choices

This data never leaves your device and is not used for any other purpose.

4 Data Storage

All game data is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage, a secure local storage system provided by React Native. This means:

• Your data remains on your device at all times
• No internet connection is required to play the game
• Your data is not backed up to any external servers by us
• Uninstalling the app will delete all locally stored game data

Data Retention

Your game data persists on your device until:

• You manually delete your save using the in-game "Delete Save" option
• You complete the game and choose to start fresh
• You uninstall the application
• You clear the app's data through your device settings

5 Third-Party Services

App Distribution

Meridian Station is distributed through:

• Apple App Store: Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy
• Google Play Store: Subject to Google's Privacy Policy

These platforms may collect their own data as described in their respective privacy policies. We do not have access to or control over data collected by these platforms.

No Analytics or Advertising

Meridian Station does not include:

• Analytics SDKs or tracking tools
• Advertising networks or ad SDKs
• Social media integration
• Crash reporting services that transmit data

6 Children's Privacy

Meridian Station contains mature themes including sci-fi horror elements and is intended for players aged 12 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age.

Since we do not collect any personal information from any users, there is no risk of inadvertently collecting children's data.

7 Your Rights

Because all data is stored locally on your device and we do not collect any personal information, you have complete control over your data:

• Access: Your game data is stored on your device and accessible through gameplay
• Deletion: You can delete your save data at any time using the in-game menu or by uninstalling the app
• Portability: Game saves are stored locally and are not transferable between devices

For EU/EEA Residents (GDPR)

As we do not collect, process, or store any personal data on external servers, GDPR data subject rights regarding our processing are not applicable. However, you retain full control of any data stored locally on your device.

For California Residents (CCPA)

We do not sell personal information. As we do not collect personal information, CCPA rights regarding our data collection are not applicable.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through:

• An update notice within the app
• An updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
